Stuck in passive mode after update

Hi Bhuvaneswari, the email went to my email inbox, so just concerned he didn't get it as well.
Also I have tried numerous times to remove AVG but it starts on 2% and is stuck there . I reboot, turn on and off, and no change. I was able to remove accessory AVG like AVG VPN but no go on AVG.
I was going to try remover tool, like I have had to use last time I had to remove AVG and reinstall when it stopped working before, but now my PC has no internet connection for some reason, so until I get someone in to look at that, I'm stuck.
What are my options with no internet to remove AVG and reinstall. Although I guess with no internet, no AVG needed ;(
Obviously the remover tool couldn't remove some sinister lurking bits of free AVG before so probably won't again !

Hello Carol,

I understand the inconvenience. After the recent AVG update, customer will receive notification as "AVG is in passive mode" when there are other security or ols traces of program installed on your PC. The update was released to inform customers about the necessity of having a single antivirus program on their computer. To remove the AVG 2013 version, please follow the instructions in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG to run the AVG remover tool.

Hi, tried AVG remover with no internet, tried AVG remover with internet, after getting someone to get internet back, I have still the same problem - in passive mode.
I did have a problem in %appdata% where I was told I had to be administrator to remove - I was in logged in as administrator. I have reinstaaled as no 2013 in program list. program list

After my last update AVG is stuck in passive mode telling me I also have free AVG 2013 running (which I don't) and telling me to uninstall . I have tried to restore my PC to before the update and it runs fine again, but as soon as I update same thing happens.
I have tried repair, and "fix now" but nothing works.
I have already had to remove and reinstall from both PC and laptop when it stopped before.
I have paid for AVG and seem to have a lot of trouble!

Since the last install I am stuck in passive mode. AVG claims I have an older AVG (2011) installed but I do not. All I have ever had was AVG. Don't know what AVG did with the lastest up date but they need to fix it fast.

I did AVG chat support via remote access and they could not fix it so AVG fix the damn problem fast. I am now with no protection. Tried to turn on Windows firewall and that does not work either.

Carol here, Andy has written under my thread, so the reply email to him went to my email inbox

Hello Nicolene,

I understand the inconvenience. The passive mode will turn on only if you have installed the 3rd party Antivirus on your PC. Please check in the control panel if you have installed any other Antivirus program other than AVG.

Hi, I am stuck in Passive Mode. What must I do to get out.  I have stopped passive mode and restarted my computor but it still stated Passive Mode.

Carol, the reply email will get to Andy's email inbox, not yours. So need not worry about it.

Carol, I really appreciate your patience and efforts so far.
I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to get in touch with the remote support. They will analyze the issue with AVG and fix it with free of cost.

Now as above have AVG but when I open it, it is still in passive mode. I have spent hours of time which I don't have, on this so would appreciate help before I will ask for a refund and go to another antivrus

Carol,
I understand this must be difficult for you.
Since AVG 2013 traces are still on your computer, you need to run the AVG Remover to remove all the old files to resolve the issue.

Let me know if you experience any difficulties and I will help you with a Remote Service for free.

Hi again, Carol.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to uninstall AVG. No worries, I request you to download AVG remover tool and copy it via external storage like Pendrive and run it to uninstall AVG with its traces.

After restart, go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders manually.

1. Type  “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2.  “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3.  %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4.  %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.

Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files.  We are here if you need further help.
