Today I got a popup asking me if I wanted to give AVG feedback. I was excited because I have wanted to tell AVG my concerns. To my dismay and disgust, the survey was only one question: How likely are you to recommend AVG to my friends? Net promoter score solicitation tells me that AVG is only interested in selling products, not improving their customer service or their existing products. What a waste of an opportunity!
My true feedback is this: Your products work well. Your constant attempts to upsell me disrupt my workflow multiple times a day and are so irritating that I want to replace you. Most applications offer a free version, but stop bombarding paying customers. Not AVG. There's no way to tell you to stop the popup ads that appear on my screen when I'm in the middle of a video conference or when I am focused on doing some work. I hate it. Having to close them and not having any way to control them is a major usability issue. I don't wonder that your market share is falling. Stop irritating your existing customers and consider retention at least as valuable as adoption.
While I would have recommend your products for their efficiency and effectiveness, clear and concise messaging when a security issue appears, and your easy to use, useful, usable and desirable interface, I am now convinced by your survey that you don't care about me or my feedback, only my value in promoting your product. What an insult!
