On 22 Oct I got a Windows 10 pop-up message telling me I needed to update my AVG protection. I have received the same message at least once a day since. I regard it as suspicious because, when I click on an 'Update Now' link to go to the AVG control centre I find that my protection is up-to-date.
I contacted the Community on 22 Oct, leading to an exchange of e-mails telling me, among other things, to take a screen shot of the pop-up and send it to you.
Problem is, I can't send you the screen shot. The e-mail thread gives me a message saying it is a robot and I should go through the Community. But the Community's 'Ask a question' form does not have an 'attach file' function. When I pointed this out to one of your colleagues from a new form, I got this reply from Alan Binch: "Allan, Attaching a screenshot here on the Community… When answering back click on the mountain 'Image' symbol located between 'Link' & 'Add a code sample'."
Small problem: There is no 'Add a code sample' icon on the Community's 'Ask a question' form. There is an icon with a mountain image–the standard attach-an-image icon
Another small problem: When I click on that icon, I get a form asking me to insert an URL and give a verbal description of the image for vision-impaired users. Where is the URL supposed to come from? And what would it contain? I have a .png file on my desktop. That's it. I still have no idea how to send it to you.
Still another problem: I downloaded an AVG screenshot tool as recommended in an earlier e-mail exchange. I used it to get a .7z image on my desktop. Guess what? None of the apps I have will open it, and I have no idea what to look for on the web. Nor would I know how to attach it to this form, if I could open the file.
So please help me. Is there a simple, user-friendly, intutive way to send you a screen shot–either by attaching a file to an e-mail thread or to this form? Or whatever else will actually work.
I will not feel secure until this issue is resolved.
Sorry for the snarkiness, but I find this process incredibly frustrating.
