Hello everyone. There's something I'd like to confirm.
I'm running AVG Free on my PC, with Malwarebytes Free as a second opinion scanner. Both play nice with each other, until the recent AVG Free Update (Around October 3, 2017, This update changed the AVG interface and made it so that you can turn off protection components like File Shield and Web Shield in the main interface without having to go to Settings). After I finished scanning with Malwarebytes Free, I found that it detected 2 PUPs: swdumon.sys and its corresponding registry key.
My question is, did this PUP (swdumon.sys) come from AVG's recent update? Is it safe? Should I add it in Malwarebytes Exclusions? I hope you can give me a bit of assurance. I'm new to AVG, so I don't really know what to do about this…
Okay. So that's clarified now. At least I won't have compatibility problems with Malwarebytes Free in my computer. Thanks for the clarification.
I'm sorry for the false suspicion about "swdumon.sys". I double checked it with our family computers with AVG installed and this detection only seems unique for my netbook, so I guess it was wrong to pinpoint the problem on your program. I'm truly sorry AVG Team.
P.S. I had PUA protection enabled in AVG Free, but it didn't detect "swdumon.sys".
Looking forward for future updates and better protection! Thanks for the quick and informative replies Balasubramanian and Alan Binch!

We would like to inform you that PUP's are "Potentially Unwanted Programs" which means they aren't necessary to run or needed for your PC.
It doesn't mean that they are possible threats. The same feature is available in AVG Antivirus too.
If you wish to scan for PUP's you have to enable it from the AVG scan settings.
Open AVG Antivirus dashboard, click on gear icon next to it and from the deep virus scan or files and folders scan you can click on "Gear icon" to get into settings.
You can find the option to enable PUP scanning on the options that is available.
If you aren't able to find it please do let us know.
