Please follow the below instructions and check the status.
Open AVG Secure VPN program window.
Click on "gear icon" to get into its settings.
Click on "Network Security" and you will find a check box that says "Exclude Trusted (private) networks".
If it is enabled, then it is obvious that AVG secure vpn will not turn on automatically when the computer is connected to a trusted home/private network.
If you would like to have VPN turned on automatically even for trusted networks, then disable this option.

Why does my VPN not turn on when I start my Laptop even tho I have Selected that it should start every time I start my computer. Don't feel safe
