Thanks for the workaround, but the central issue remains–disk defragment takes forever from the Maintenance scan.  I'm deciding whether to buy, and this is an irritant…it should be fixed.

Hi. AVG PC TuneUp program long defragments, it is unclear what defragments. Screenshot'm putting.

Kevin, we request you to run the disk defragmentation from All functions in AVG PC TuneUp application only for the first time.

When you run the defragmentation again you can run it through maintenance scan and it should not take long time.

Yes very long defragmented. The issue is resolved in principle.

Hello Nikolaj,
I understand the inconvenience caused. The first time defragmentation will take some time to complete. The time is taken for defragmentation also depends on space used on your hard disk. Please skip the defragmentation option in Maintenance scan by going to AVG PC TuneUp->Maintenance settings icon(gear wheel icon) in Maintenance tab->1-click maintenance tab->uncheck 'Defragment disk' option and click 'apply' to save changes. Once you are done with that, you can also defragment by going to All functions tab in AVG PC TuneUp->Hard disks-> Defragment disk. It will show the estimated time and progress of defragmentation.
