Temporarily disable avg

Hi, Clem.
We're here to help. Which AVG product are you using? Could you provide a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of the CPU usage when AVG is disabled?

Hi, I right clicked the AVG tray icon and temporarily disabled AVG antivirus, but it continues to cut in and use 25 to 50% cpu at random intervals and for arbitrary lengths of time. How do I stop this? Thx! Clem

So what do I need to do to temporarily disable the real time background protection?

Hi, here is a screenshot showing "just" 2% and 12% cpu usage of the AVG antivirus free version. For several minutes and at various intervals, it ran at 25 to 50% cpu for the first 30 or so minutes after booting up–even tho it was disabled just as as shown in this screenshot. In between those intervals, it would be like this at 1 or 2% then 0%. After the computer has been on for hours, it is not entering the high cpu usage anymore, but there remains the question, "Why is it even using 1 or 2% (and the service 12%) cpu when it is supposed to be disabled?" It's slightly interfering with software benchmarking I'm doing. Thx, Clem Whelp

cpu usage at 12 and 2%

Even though AVG is disabled, the real time protection will run in the back ground. It seems to be a usual behavior.

It is not possible to stop AVG from running at the background. We have to uninstall the product in order to stop it.
