I do a scheduled scan every night. Last night 5 items appeared in the log, all with the same message.
I'll paste one here with all the text:
"C:\Windows\WinSxS\msil_miguicontrols_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.18362.1_none_2487ad06017610b7\MIGUIControls.dll [E] The function attempted to use a name that is reserved for use by another transaction (6800)"
I have no idea what this means.
Appreciate your understanding, Gary.
If you need anything else, do not hesitate to let us know.
Hello Gary.
We're here to help. All antivirus software monitors your computer at runtime and is constantly checking for any discrepancies or viruses. If you try to run some application/service and the antivirus software doesn’t either accept the action or recognize it, it will pop up this error.
The antivirus software readily copies the name of the application/service and starts another dummy instance. Because the dummy instance is already running, the application/service cannot run because of the same name. This is a good strategy and works in numerous cases to save you from malware and viruses.
However, if you are installing or running a legit application, this will seem no more than an annoying error and we request to disable AVG protection temporarily.
Hi Avinash,
Because the scan is scheduled for 4am each day, I don't want to disable AVG protection, say at 11-12pm when I go to bed.
So I'll see if it keeps happening (this was the first).
Cheers
Gary
