Hello
I have not configured Firefox or Chrome to use a proxy but do sometimes use HMA! PRO VPNand have had no problem until last three weeks
The error occurs at random sites, whether I am connected through HMA! PRO VPN or directly
It occurs at random sites
Once it occurs, neither Firefox nor Chrome will load any new pages, all new pages or refreshed pages show the error message, including the home page
To resolve I have to shut down the browser and disconnect / reconnect to the internet
On occasion, this has not resolved the problem and I have had to repeat the disconnect / reconnect
Thanks for your time
Mike

Sorry for the inconvenience, Michael.
Could you share the screenshot https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-create-a-screenshot&supportType=home of the error message you received?
Are you receiving this error while trying to access particular sites or when you tried to open browsers?

My Firefox & Chrome browsers keep crashing with "The proxy server is refusing connections" message, which is apparently caused by an adware virus. AVG scan says no problems and Google answers all start with using Internet Explorer to reset the default connection to 'no proxy', but I do not have IE installed. Any suggestions?
So you are telling me it is NOT an adware virus (which other sites say it is) that AVG is not picking up?
And your suggested solution is to use the internet without my AVG internet security turned on and see what happens? I do not want to risk my computer being infected by all sorts of other viruses because my internet security is not on, so if you have no solution within AVG, I will install one of the other malware removal tools suggested on the other sites.
Hello Michael,
Thank you for the screenshots and for providing the information. I would request you to disable (Right click on AVG in the system tray and turn off the protection) AVG Internet Security temporarily and then check the status. If the issue persists, please do contact you Internet Service provider and have a word with them to see if it is some changes that has to be made from their end.
Michael, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
