The virus definition updates for my Google pixel XL phone have been failing to update for at least the past two weeks and perhaps longer. I just became aware of the issue. I am a licensed user.

I solved the problem by reloading the software from my AVG account. Once I did that the virus definitions loaded without a problem.

I had previously reloaded the software from the play store without solving the problem.
