Theft From AVG Aided by Digital River & PayPal

Hello Tony,

You've reached the AVG community support forum.
We'd like to clarify that Digital River is our payment gateway. All AVG purchases and auto-renewals are processed through Digital River.
Upon checking your account, we can see that you have an AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device) subscription for which auto-renewal has already been cancelled.
We couldn't locate any other recent charges made under the email address you've used to contact us here.
If you've recently been charged by AVG, it's possible that your charge is registered under one of your alternate or misspelled email addresses.
As it isn't advised to discuss personal/account related info here, we've sent you an email requesting further details. Please check your inbox/spam folders to find the email and use it to get back to us.

What the hell is going on with AVG and Digital River (whoever they are) randomly billing people on behalf of AVG for services that I understand me and others haven't signed up for?

PayPal don't give a toss which means they can carry on billing people. So what's the answer?
