I used the AVG AntiVirus to run a simple virus file scan of my Android phone (did not use the AVG Cleaner, which I don’t have installed). It then made a suggestion to scan for unnecessary unused files and to delete cache. I never gave this app permission to delete any of my photos or videos from my phone. It seems like multiple others experienced the same exact thing with the app. None of the removed files ever even went to the recycle bin after the app removed them. Again, I did not use the AVG Cleaner software. A person on this thread mentioned that AVG customer support was able to help them retrieve their photos, videos, etc and referenced a data recovery software: Lost all photos, videos and music
Not much other specifics were given. I reached out to their customer service dept. by phone, who set up a case and advised that I have to wait for up to 7 days to see if someone from their mobile department would respond with troubleshooting steps. Can someone please help with this??
