Yesterday, I went to my desktop and a popup indicating threat block for TMPAAEB.TMP.EXE . It asked if I wanted to quarantine, so I clicked on that. It's still running "moving to quarantine" for about 12 hours. What should I do?
Hi Kathy,
We're glad to help you with this. However, we're uncertain about the exact pop up to which you refer.
Would you be so kind to share us the screenshot of it for better clarity?
Hi Kathy,
We're glad to help you with this. However, we're uncertain about the exact pop up to which you refer.

Thank you. I will try this later.
Why wasn’t it able to be quarantined?
The instructions above re: the temp files are a bit confusing -
step 4 says to select all of the temp files, then step 6 says all temp files should not be deleted. Please clarify what I should do.
4. Press Ctrl+A to select all files.
5. Press 'Delete' on your keyboard and click 'Yes' to confirm.
6. All temporary files should not be deleted.
We're glad to help you with this, Kathy.
The pop up should have a x mark at top right. Please click on it to close it.
If it fails, try restarting your computer. Rebooting denotes restarting your computer or even force shutdown.
Clear temp files denotes removing the temporary files by following the steps provided.
To ensure that the program on your computer has the latest patches, you can click on the refresh icon (arrow) at bottom right corner in the homepage of AVG protection program.
From the provided screenshot, we see that a temporary file is found to be malicious & AVG attempts to move it to quarantine.
Thank you.
We'd request to close this threat detection pop up, clear temp, reboot your PC and run a deep virus scan of your PC using AVG. Please make sure that your AVG is up to date with latest virus definitions installed.
To delete temp files, follow the steps below:
1. Press the Windows button + R to open the 'Run' dialog box.
2. Enter this text: %temp%
3. Click OK to open the temp folder.
4. Press Ctrl+A to select all files.
5. Press 'Delete' on your keyboard and click 'Yes' to confirm.
6. All temporary files should not be deleted.
Follow the steps in this link to start a deep virus scan using AVG.
How do I close the pop up?
When you indicate clear temp, is that when I follow your instructions to ‘delete ‘ temp files?
Rebooting PC - does that mean to power off the PC?
How would so know if the AVG is up to date with the latest virus definitions?
What kind of ‘threat ‘ was this?
Thank you.
We are sorry for the confusion.
There will be some leftover files after you click on the delete option.
You wont able to delete those files, so please ignore it.
How do I attach a screenshot from an iPhone?
