Whenever I open www.wordreference.com, I get a ‘threat secured’ message. I contacted Word Reference - a reputable online dictionary company. They checked it out but said there were no viruses their end and no other reports of one. I can send you a screenshot but that option isn’t available on this form. It says, 'Threat secured. We've safely aborted connection on local.avg.com because it was infected with JS:DownloaderPAcked-G [Trj]'.
I did click briefly on a dodgy email link 2 weeks ago. I immediately noticed and quickly closed the programme and computer down. I’ve run 3 AVG deep and files/folders virus scans since then and all come back clear. Might the above 'threat secured' message be connected with the dodgy link I clicked on rather than the Web Reference website?
What do you think might be happening here? AVG can’t detect a virus on my PC and this threat message only comes up when I click on Word Reference. I can email you a screenshot if you wish. I’d appreciate your advice and any recommendations for action I might take.
Thanks and kind regards,
Dawn
