Thunderbird not working after update to AVG 18.2 (Mac)

Hello Benjamin,

I understand that you are unable to access Thunderbird with AVG installed. Please disable AVG Web shield component and check if you are able to access Thunderbird without any error.

Hello,

Yesterday, I updated my AVG for Mac to version 18.2, and it seems to be causing a problem with Mozilla Thunderbird. The program is now unable to connect to any e-mail server. I uninstalled AVG and restarted the computer, and Thunderbird started working fine again. I reinstalled AVG today, hoping it could just have been a coincidence, but now Thunderbird is producing the exact same error as before.

Has anyone else experienced this problem / does anyone have any suggestions for a solution?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Karthikeyan,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, disabling Web Shield has not solved the problem. I also restarted the computer after disabling it, and the Thunderbird error still occurs.

To make sure the problem is not being caused by another factor, I have completely uninstalled AVG again, and Thunderbird has returned to normal (i.e. works fine).

Is there anything else I can try?
Benajamin,

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. Please reinstall AVG program, disable each component in AVG and check which one is blocking the Thunderbird from working.

If the issue persists, please provide the screenshot of the error message to check and assist further.
