Thunderbird & Windows 10 May Update - emails blocked by AVG

Thank you for responding so quickly. Of course, I cannot provide screenshots (of Thunderbird?) as the problem goes away with 1809, but if you search your knowledgebase I am sure you will find these from past such problems.

And the steps suggested at

https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Troubleshoot-invalid-email-certificate ?

were those I followed, albeit I could not find these when I was originally looking. It would have saved me a LOT of time had a (Google) search found it.

If you have the May update installed on a support pc for testing purposes, it should be pretty simple to validate the issue as general or specific to me.

Hello Henry,
We appreciate your efforts in trying to fix the issue.
We are modifying our AVG features and User interface for convenient use based on the recommendation/ suggestions we receive from our various users.
Please provide us the screenshot of that certificate error message to check and assist you further.

After updating to the May Update, Thunderbird continually asks for security certificate exceptions, and even when I accept and tick "make permanent", they continue to pop up and I cannot download or send email until I disable AVG Internet Security (19.5.3093 build 19.5.4444.495); or the email component but it is easier to disable the whole lot.

Now I recall this issue from the dim past and, in the end and after much wasted time (why do AVG continually change the interface so users cannot find advanced functions!?), I exported the SSL certificate to import into Thunderbird, only to be told it was already present.

I have now reverted to 1809 and the problem has gone away.

HELP!!!

We're glad to know that all have worked out, Henry. We appreciate your technical knowledge. If you've upgraded to the latest version through the existing program (older version), then there might be 3 certificates.
If you require any further assistance, feel free to reach us.

Having reinstalled 1903 again, I now find 3 certificates for AVG (why 3?!), one of which did not have a tick against "this certificate can identify web sites'. Correcting that and all seems ok. Hope it continues.
