Tif files infected?

It appears that the folks in the backroom have taken care of the issue of false positive hits on Tif files as of this morning. When I went to setup the tests for your latest request I no longer end up with my Tif files in quarintine.

One note as I fade away, concerning the "faliure to restore" issue for the quarintined Tif files, I did notice that the folder in the Zip file to which the restore file should have been put back into was no longer in the zip file.

The detection is based on the https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2018-4903 vulnerability. Please try "Restore as" option and check if you are able to restore the file.

Hello Chuck,

We aren't sure about the reason for the threat detection appearing for "TIF" files.

I installed AVG Free a few days ago, build 18.2.3046 and current definitions. Seemed to work fine on a simple computer scan. But today I tried the Deep Scan feature and it came back with long list of Tif extension picture files as being infected. Most of these were in zip files. I grabbed a few of the "infected" files and tested via an online virus scanner, Kaspersky VirusDesk. This scan showed no problems with the files. Had a friend test the files with a Zen version of AVG and the results were again virus free. Did a reload of the avg software with the same results, infected Tif files.

Any idea what the problem might be?

I deeply regret the inconvenience caused, Chuck.

I'd like to inform you that AVG Zen is not available in the latest version of AVG. Could you provide a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the error message that you receive when trying to restore the files? No, the threat detection no longer shows up in the quarantine window.

Thank you for updating the status.
Yes, we have fixed the false positives that occurred recently.
I understand that, the folder in the Zip file is no longer present.
May I know whether you are able to still see the threat detection in the "quarantine" window?
