Too much speed reduction

Before I request remote desktop support, I tried VPN with minimal system services enabled and wired Internet. The only services I enabled manually were those needed for the wired connection and Secure VPN. The speed result was about the same. Tonight is a good night in that it achieved just slightly over 100mbps with VPN, and the usual well over 200mbps without VPN. I have returned my computer to normal and will send a request for remote desktop support. Thank you.

Hello Kurt.
We regret the inconvenience.
You may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.
But since the difference is speed is too high when enabled VPN, we would like to know some more details to diagnose this.

- On what computer/device operating system are you experiencing this disruption?
- Is your connection to the internet wireless or wired, and is there any difference in reduced bandwidth between one or the other?
- Is this a recent disruption you are experiencing, or has this been ongoing for some time?
- Are you experiencing the same disruption on another household computer/device that is connected to AVG Secure VPN?
- Are you able to connect to a different Internet Service Provider (ISP), and does the disruption continue?
As a further troubleshoot, on the device/computer you are experiencing a disruption, to temporarily disable your Firewall. Let me know how this turns out. I look forward to your clarifying response.

When I use Secure VPN, my Internet download speed drops from 230mbps to 88 mbps. When are you going to invest in more and better servers and backbone? I tried Nord VPN (yes, I have been trying the competition) and speed through them was almost 230mbps at first but it leveled out at 140-160. Still, I could not find a server through which I could both send mail (blocked in computer and web) and reach my bank web site at the same time. So, I am back to AVG. So, how about fixing that speed issue?

We appreciate your efforts, Kurt.

Please observe the speed for few days and do contact our remote team if the issue persist.

Thank you.

Thank you, Kurt.
I'd like to inform that firewall feature is included in AVG Internet Security.
Click this link for instructions to disable AVG firewall temporarily.
