Toshiba laptop startup

Hello Clive. I would request you to boot your PC to safe mode and follow the Method 1 in this Microsoft support article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947215  and it should resolve your issue. Please contact us back should you need any further assistance.

Toshiba laptop sometimes comes up with the message on login.
"The user profile failed the logon.
User profile cannot be loaded."
I have to go into safe mode and restore to a previous point or use the Toshiba repair software and then it's OK. A technician told me this can occur after an AVG update.
It's just a nuisance but if it is an AVG/Toshiba problem, can't someone fix it?

Thoughts please.

This isn't a solution. This is a response to the problem and I want the problem to stop happening. Encouraging users to mess with their registry is irresponsible, especially when the alternative safe solutions I mentioned (system restore & Toshiba troubleshoot software) are available.
One more time. AVG should prevent this happening!
I have an old version of AVG lurking on my computer from 2012. Shouldn't the new version have removed it? Or is is only an old desktop link, because I had to remove before installing the new version? I'm only asking in case that could be causing the problem.
Regards
Clive

Clive, sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. The issue should completely get fixed by following the steps in the Microsoft article provided earlier. Though it is not the cause of the issue, I would request you to upgrade your AVG to latest version. To do so, please click on this article http://avgclick.me/UpgradeToLatest .
