TrainTotal & LootPower

Dear AVG,

Today I accepted your offer of a free 7 day trial membership for the AVG Cleaner service. I have paid for this service before and previously could not find fault. However, whilst using the cleaner I was offered the chance to win an iPhone. So, I went through the qualification process and apparently 'won' an iPhone. I was them told I had to pay a £1 delivery charge. I then entered my account details and thought nothing of it. Then I started receiving emails confirming my alleged subscription to not only one, but TWO services. Namely TrainTotal and LootPower. There was absolutely no obvious information relating to either of these companies, their products or services during the competition qualification. And completely unwittingly I have signed up to trial subscriptions which will end in three days after which if I have not cancelled my memberships, I will be charged £57 and £25 respectively.

What the f**k? So are AVG willing participants in these scams? The irony is not lost on me whereby I choose to use what I previously believed to be one of the premier companies available to ensure online security and safety and have then been ripped off.

Who are these companies.? Why have you allowed them to be completely opaque and rip off YOUR customers with zero obvious advance warning as to EXACTLY what we are signing up to?

I have tried without success to end these memberships. You need a password to enter the sites and cancel memberships. Guess what? THERE ISN'T ANY WAY TO GET A PASSWORD.

To say I am disappointed wouldn't even come close to how apoplectic I am feeling right now. I used to espouse your company and services. I told so many people about how brilliant the services are on offer at AVG. Imagine my embarrassment at now having to explain to anyone else that gets conned via AVG that I too was ripped off and I am sorry?

Wow. In one fell swoop, AVG have gone from being a company that I believed in and told people about, to à company that has teamed up with dodgy companies whose sole purpose is to con people out of money by creating a fake iPhone competition with fake reviews (I subsequently checked the reviewers authenticity).

I'm done with AVG. And I will never, ever again recommend you.

Sincerely,

~ Scott Leech
