OK Martin, You can use either the 32 or 64bit install file from this webpage (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download.prd-isc) [Scroll Down - Paid Version] whichever suits your system. If you're not sure about 32 or 64 bit on your system have a look @ this link (http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=140471#post_140471).

Thanks for your quick reply Alan.
As to my first question - is it safe to connect to the AVG download site when there is no virus programme installed on the new computer?

AVG Guru
I wish to transfer my existing AVG protection to a new computer (Windows 8.1) but AVG help pages are telling me to download the program from the internet onto the new computer when it has no virus protection.
Would it not be safer to download the program to my old computer (Windows XP) before AVG is removed, save to a memory stick and then install from this stick to the new computer?
If this is possible what is the URL to obtain the correct download please?
Hi Martin,
Yes it is safe download files from safe verified sources even without AntiVirus protection.
Thanks
