Tray Icon missing after automatic update to AVG 2016

Hi

My AVG Internet Security updated automatically this morning from 2014 to 2016 version. It seems to be working fine, but the Navigation Tray Icon has disappeared and I can't get it back. I am running Windows XP SP3.

My "display system tray notifications" settings are correct in the AVG advanced settings. Having looked around various other people's problems with this in the past they nearly all said to enable AVGTray.exe on startup. I have no file of this name on my pc - is this a new feature of 2016 I wonder? Is there any way of getting the tray icon back please? I have seen a few posts from AVG support saying this is indeed not working (may even have been removed from 2016 version). Does anyone have a definite answer.
Thanks, Gaz

Hi
AVG automatically upgraded me to Internet Security 2016 on Thursday. I was previously on 2014 which I couldn't upgrade myself, as the upgrade won't work on Windows XP SP3 from my end. It just generates an error message and won't complete. As soon as the upgrade to 2016 was done, my tray icon disappeared and won't come back even though it should according to my AVG settings.
Also today I have two error messages and pop ups on my pc desktop (both the same a few hours apart) generated by AVG trying to do something. I have copied them below as they may mean something is not working properly. I have searched online and forums but can't see anyone with similar!

The repair tool won't download. The download procedure doesn't seem compatible with Windows XP SP3, even though the product desciption says this is a supported OS. It is exactly the same when trying to download and upgrade the poduct, which is why I hadn't upgraded from 2014, and why you had to do an automatic upgrade this week. I had a very lengthy live chat discussion with AVG suport about this incompatibilty issue and they didn't have a solution. They offered to remotely access my pc to help, but that is also incompatible with XP. So it seems the product does work with XP but a lot of the other procedures don't.

All I want is for my navigation tray icon to com eback, as it seems that the Internet Security is working and receiving your daily upgrades, but I feel more secure seeing the tray icon!

By the way, some of the AVG support staff seem to think the tray icon has been removed as a feature, and some think it is an error - any 100% information on this?

Hi

I can't remove and re install because the installation fails and  get the eror message as I mentioned before. I have lost count of the number of times someone gives me this solution and I say I can't do it.

To be perfectly clear: I cannot install, or re install the AVG Internet Security 2016, nor use the repair tool, nor can I get AVG to remote access my pc. I have been told that none of this now works with XP SP3 as the necessary connections cannot be made any more, so please do not suggest any of these as "solutions".

The only way I got the upgrade to 2016 was because somehow you did this automatically without my intervention. Last Thursday it was all done from your end somehow. Since then, no icon in trya, and the error messages I mentioned above.

We are sorry to know that the repair tool wouldn't download.
Do you mean that you still have the older AVG version 2014 installed on your PC?
In our recent update, we have just changed the right click options for the AVG system tray icon.
The AVG system tray icon should be present always in any version.
