I appreciate the suggestion, but I do not think giving you remote access to my computer is the answer I prefer. Is there no other possible resolution?

I wanted to uninstall avgzen and get just plain avg free, but an error cropped up saying that I'm not allowed to do that. The reason I'm going through all this is because avg tried to update, I got avgzen, then it quit working. I just want my regular avg free back! Any suggestions?

I tried what you suggested (twice) and got the exact same error message. I'm 64bit, by the way. Is there something else I can try?

Thank you so much for replying! I followed your advice but it didn't solve whatever is going on. Here's what happened…
I used the AVG Remover, and then followed the link to download avg antivirus free. Installation failed and this message popped up:
Installation failed
Sorry, we've experienced a problem during initialization.
Please try again, and if the issue persists, contact customer support for help.
Error code: 0xC0070643
Description: Event exec_finished
As the message requests, I tried again (got the same error message), and that didn't work. Next step maybe? AVG Remover and try again?
