Trojan generic 14 removal

Hello Fred,
Could you please let us know the exact AVG program installed on your PC and please let us know the issues you are facing while scanning your PC with the AVG program so that we could provide you with better assistance in resolving the issue.
Thank you.

I now have this Trojan horse Generic_14c.RWI.dropper showing after a scan.

Can you please provide advice on how to remove it?

Thanks,

Mitch

Hi,
I'm using the latest version 2016.0.7227 of the avg antivirus. Unfortunately something keeps getting through.
I keep getting a threat called : Trojan horse generic_14c.RWI.dropper.
Object name :  c:/programfiles/microsoft security client/MsMpEng.exe
Severity : high

It keeps telling me I'm secured but I have a trojan that keeps coming back on my PC.

Hello Mitch,

Please have a look at the suggestion given by Fred and do let us know the status of your issue.

Thanks Kishore,

Sorry about the delay in replying - I did receive your e-mail (addressed to "Fred", but presumably meant for me!) & will respond to it shortly.

Mitch

For me it was because I used windows defender and AVG. AG will treat your other antivirus as a virus. So just never use 2 antivirus at a time xD. I'm pretty sure you have the same issue.

Fred, That's OK… The free version doesn't have residential real-time protection.

Thanks, Fred & Balasubramanian,

Unfortunately, this solution doesn't apply to me, as I don't have Windows Defender switched on & haven't had for at least a year.

I have AVG AntiVirus 2015, version 2015.0.6176 & my two year licence expires on 26 November, 2016.  I also own AVG PC TuneUp 2015, expiring on the same date.

My Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium has successfully run simultaneously with the above for the past year & is not showing any problems.

I usually run AVG AntiVirus twice daily & last night was the first time this Trojan horse has been detected.  I am very careful with my use of web sites & can't recall visiting any "strange" sites in the last 24 hours or so.

I hope the above information is helpful in some way - I am genuinely puzzled as to how this infection has happened.
