We have numerous spreadsheets that we use on a daily basis. This morning after an AVG update 2 of these spreadsheets have been highlighted as a threat (Trojan horse Generic_c).

This is despite the fact they are used (and scanned by) on a daily basis and have been used for approx. 8 months. They are standard accounting documents (Purchases and Invoices) and do not carry sensitive information but are password encrypted.

I have seen other threads today on a similar basis where people have lost all of there work.

Luckily we backup files so I have opened the same file backed up from weeks ago and that is also now showing as a threat!

My guess is that something in the file is showing as a threat after the latest AVG update despite the fact it isn't but it is strange as it is not much different to a lot of the other spreadsheets that we use.

I need AVG to look into this for me before I trust these files as I cannot take the risk of other files being at risk.

Please advise on this ASAP

Hello Michael,
Thank you for your patience. Our developers has confirmed it as a false positive. As a temporary fix we request you to add the file to the exception list using the instructions on the article : http://avgclick.me/AddException . Also we request you to submit the sample of the false detection on our official website : https://secure.avg.com/submit-sample so that our developers can fix the issue as soon as possible.
Thank you.

I have already done this so I am now just waiting for a solution.

Do I need to attach either of the affected files when I run this?

Yes, Michael,
It would be most helpful for us to analyze the issue. Thank you.
