I had an online Technician from GPS Navman tell me that my PC was infected with a Trojan - He logged on to my computer and brought up a screen which showed there were 12228 errors caused by this Trojan. I have AVG Ultimate - I thought this would protect me from such infection! Is there an AVG product that I can use to get rid of the Trojan?

We're glad to help you with the info. Initially, you can be rest assured that your computer would be protected against emerging threats & hackers with AVG protection installed in it.
Reason being, AVG Internet Security has an active firewall. There are many technical supports who would reach you & state that your computer is infected.
In order to fix them, they'll ask you to pay, which is a scam. In this regard, we'd suggest you to ensure that the AVG program has the latest patches applied to it.
To do so : Open AVG Internet Security - Click on refresh icon beside virus definitions (at bottom right corner) - After successful update, try running a scan using AVG.
