Trojan infection?

Hi,

I am not aware of installing Bing on my Mac. When I tried to search for Bing, using Finder, it did not locate any such file.

What I was describing was that when I typed a topic into Google, I was taken by a searchroute message to other sites- sometimes Bing, sometimes Flash player ads but it was not my usual Google site any longer.

This problem started prior to my installing AVG. I downloaded AVG to try to fix the issue but it has done nothing to help eradicate the problem.

If this is not a virus , what do you think it is? It started, as I stated, after I tried to obtain a stream of a football match (I used a variety of sites, including hesgoals.com and livefootystreams.co.uk so I do not know which one specifically started this issue)

I will disable File and Web Shield now. Can you explain why this will help?

Tony

Since looking for a football streaming site over a week ago, my Mac Mojave (v 10.14.1) has become infected . There have been various effects from this and they seem to be increasing.

1) Most attempts to click or link to a site are hijacked by searchroute 1560352588 us west and takes me to bing.com or an advert for donloading Flash Player

2) Google is affected and I do not get my usual google results

3) All twittter links lead to a message "If you're not re-directed soon, please use this link but the underlined hyperlink does not work and so, no more twitter for me.

4) My Fantasy Football sites do not allow me to make transfers or alter my team in any way as it gives me the messsage "Error["detail". CSRF Failed. Referrer checking failed- no Referrer"}

5) One of my Social media sites no longer lets me see posts- this only kicked in today.

6) My capital E can no longer be produced by shift+e (it is just blank)- I have to bring on Caps Lock to get an E

I have now installed AVG but it has made absolutely no difference- I have run several scans and it has found a few faults and fixed them but it has had no effect on any of these issues.

Can anyone advise on how I should go about fixing this infection? Please advise in simple layman language and step-by-step as I am not accomplished in this area.

So far, I feel that the AVG buy has been a wasted investment.

Thank you for the detailed information.
Are you experiencing this only on a particular browser?

It seems to be more prevalent on my main Browser Firefox.

I have Safari as back up but I have not registered all my sites there, only on Firefox.

Sorry, I have to go to sleep now- will catch replies tomorrow

Tony

Okay, try reset of your Firefox browser and check the status?

How do I reset my Firefox Browser?

Another site which seems to be infecting my Mac is Searchers13.club

Where do I find htese in order to get rid of them?

Tony

Hello Tony,

This doesn't look like an infection as these would happen when you have some search or toolbars installed to your browser.
We request you to uninstall Bing and other search/toolbars installed on your Mac and check whether the issue persist.
Let us know from when you started experiencing this issue?
To check whether AVG is causing this issue, open AVG Antivirus and disable File and Web Shield.
Keep us informed about the status.
