I currently have AVG Ultimate subscription since June of last year.
I received a popup from AVG telling me SearchProtocolHost.exe was trying to delete a file and blocked it. I ran several scans with AVG but everything came back as "clean".
My computer had slowed down dramatically. I had files disappearing, apps not working properly or at all, new user accounts showing up, and file ownership messages saying that I needed permission to open them when I was the one that created them.
I ran Microsoft Safety Scanner and found 14 corruptions your software missed. VBS/Agent.EK was in my permissions, my photo viewer, and several other apps & locations including my recycle bin. The only way to repair all the extensive damage done was to do a complete reset and I have no clue how to get back all the files that were deleted by this thing. I've lost entire folders of family photos, work files & other important files I can never replace before the reset!
I've already removed AVG TuneUp once before because of a conflict with one of my work programs causing my computer to lock up. Then I found the VPN kept changing settings on its own from Atlanta to Czech Republic.
I've used the free version of AVG for many years and had always been happy with it. Last year I paid for the whole AVG package of protection and it failed, horribly so. Now I am in the process of reinstalling my work programs Can someone give me a good reason to reinstall it after so much instability, aggravation, and loss?

AVG Secure VPN is an application that allows you to connect to the internet via secure AVG VPN servers using an encrypted tunnel to protect your online activity from eavesdropping.
In certain locations we rent dedicated servers, and the IP geolocation databases are updated by the server provider on AVG's behalf. Because AVG is a Czech company, these providers may indicate the location as Czech Republic. When this occurs, we work with the providers to update the information with the correct locations of our servers.
