Trying to resolve email SSL certificate problem

Hi,

I followed the instructions from the support request but haven't heard anything back yet, has any progress been made on this?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

Is there any update on the status of my original issue? It's been several months and I have been unable to use the email scanning part of AVG for any of that time.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello, I need help to fix the Error in certificate in Firefox. we have trusted the certificate by GlobalSign. and it is working fine for chrome and IE but in Firefox , It is showing issuer validate is unknown. Can anybody help me out regarding this??

Hi,

So I got an update to my AVG version today (20.1.3112 (build 20.1.5069.537)) and have tried to check if this problem has been resolved. It appears now though that the configuration options from the previous article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-Troubleshoot-invalid-email-certificate&supportType=home" target="_blank) no longer exist, so now I don't see how to export the SSL certificate for use with my email client. Can someone please advise, as this doesn't seem like the problem has been fixed, since I can still not enable email shield since my email provider uses SSL.

Here's a screenshot from the settings dialog, previously there was an option under the log settings 'Open old settings', which was the way described in this article for exporting the SSL certificate.

Hi Mark.
We're here to help.
Which email client are you using? Did the invalid SSL certificate error resolves when AVG Email shield is disabled? Could you share a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of the error message?

Hi,

I've just installed AVG Internet Security 19.8.3108 (build 19.8.4793.544) onto a new laptop and am trying (again) to fix the problem where my email client complains about invalid SSL certificate. I've tried to follow the instructions here but when I click the Save button to export the certificate I get an error message. There have been a couple of variations along the lines of Object not found, RPC error, and the current one is:
Error while exporting the certificate
Invalid parameter was passed to a function.

Any ideas how to solve this?

I must have done this before as I have sorted the same problem out on my old desktop machine, but if I try the same procedure on that I get a similar error message.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Sarah,

I was told that there was a bug in the version of AVG relating to this and that it should be updated at some point. I previously sent a full set of information back using AVG SysInfo under support no. 09591948. Each time I previously emailed back on that support request I got no response so that's why I'm posting here again.

Thanks,

Mark

Thank you for updating the status.

Glad to know that your issue is resolved.

Feel free to reach us for further help.

Yes, that seems to have finally got it working, thanks. I can now re-enable email scanning and it seems to be working with my email service over SSL.

Thanks,

Mark

Thank you for sharing the screenshot, Mark.
We're not sure which article are you attempting to export the SSL certificate. Click this link for recommended instructions.
If the issue persists, repair AVG and then try to export the certificate.

Thank you for providing the case number, Mark.

As informed by our senior team via email, currently the version for AVG Internet Security is 19.8 and our developers are working on it and will be fixed in the next program update 19.9.

Appreciate your patience.

Hi Avinash,

I've just tried that, completely uninstalled AVG following those steps, then performed a fresh install using the current version and I'm still getting the same error message.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mwlein,

We will help you with this.
Could you share the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-Create-screenshot&supportType=home) of error appearing in Firefox browser?
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Do you get the error when you access this  https://walmartone.com  website?
Are you using the free or paid version of AVG?

Hi Avinash,

Yes, that was the article I followed (and linked in my post). I've now tried the repair process twice and I'm still getting a similar error message from the export:
