Where is the option/functionality to take snapshots of the system for backups?

First of all: We hear you. Loud and clear. You're loyal users and we don't want to lose you - it's users like yourself that made the software as popular as it is today.
Let me tell you what's going on and what we're working on: Our engineers are currently porting features of the "old" AVG PC TuneUp platform to the new AVG TuneUp product. The new one is based on a more modern codebase and it's what we're using across the company (Avast + AVG) now. Why are we doing this? To be honest: It's a lot of work keeping multiple product codebases around - and it's expensive. We'd rather like to put this engineering work and budget towards developing a better product!
However, we don't want to simply copy & paste old features but redesign and improve upon them. With a list of 35+ features from the old product, this of course isn't happening over night!

First of all… Thank's !! is really nice to read this kind of answer.
I work as a SW Designer and developer in a big company so I perfectly understand your words but you have to understand that the situation you say about your needs to create an internal framework for all your apps is perfectly normal but not "client fault" and that then… this is more like a "beta" is not a final full version so this version should be in a different state and should be developed… while you keep updating the "stable/full" version… and of course cheaper ! or maybe just "free" becouse what is more important… the money we pay for the subscription is to be able to "update / upgrade" the app… but if we have to wait many months to get a solid "real" new version then the money is "lost" in our side since the subscription will expire with 0 "full" updates in yor side… so we are paying at the moment for something like a mix downgrade with some ui improvements… anyway as I said I perfetly understand the other side of the problem you said… and I am happy to see that you read us and want to take care of your users.
That's why we're going through the list of features bit by bit and make a careful decision for every single one of them and answer a few questions:
1. Which one do we develop next? (for example, in a few weeks we'll get Drive Defrag over to you - later this year Disk Space Explorer and Duplicate Finder).
In order to figure out what's coming soon we are actively running surveys across thousands of users to find out which features are the most important to you.
IMHO I miss more or less nearly all but maybe the most are: firstly those you are already restoring (disk space explorer, fix problems…) and System information (redesigned), duplicate finder, undelete, improve/reports performance, process manager.
I also really miss the advaced way to work with this app… I mean… even the features that already have this version or the features you are adding this months are imho "excessively simple" they are nicer in terms of "ui" but the data/info we get in our screen is sometimes poor compared with last version… and you cannot execute fix registry standalone and other things… almost all is inside maintanance and you have to execute all allways… that "simple way" in some features is good, clean and nice but in others I miss more details like before in my opinion since this app is not for "basic" users… we are advanced users this should be an advanced app like in the past… or maybe an option to activate "advanced view"…
2. Which feature we might not need anymore! This is quite critical, as some functionality might've been useful 10+ years but is no longer beneficial, either due to hardware improvements or enhancements in Windows 7/10. Looking at Themis Zisis list, we do have some thoughts on every item:
AVG Turbo Mode: Turned off Windows services temporarily. Now, I am running intense benchmarks at Avast using multiple synthetic and real-world tools to figure out the "Before" and "After" effect of our products. I look at areas like boot time, RAM usage, FPS in games, application launch times etc.
The result: turning off these services stopped having an effect 10+ years ago, even on 6-8 year old hardware. On the other hand, it introduced more issues with users complaining about some of their applications not working! If we do a "Turbo Mode" in the new product, we want to do something that's actually having a benefit. We do have some ideas in mind, but we don't want to mindlessly copy & paste here! I hate snake oil and I'd rather have nothing at the moment than something that's useless.

Please ! this one of the more importants for me would be nice to see this feature with new ui but PLEASE keep here the "advanced view" here is one of those perfect feature to give users all possible data / diagrams / filters / options…
AVG Registry Defrag: The registry on Windows 7 and especially 10 does not need to be defragmented anymore. This used to be an issue in the Windows 2000/XP-era, and even then only in rare scenarios. I used to work at Microsoft and we discovered only a handful of cases where a "fragmented" registry had some effect on server hardware with thousands of applications running. If any competing product claims that a registry helps you on todays machines, you know it's snake oil ;)

AVG Performance Profiles/AVG Improve Performance: This, too, detected and disabled some services and had a few suggestions to improve performance. It's another case where the impact was literally zero across all our test results.
However, the parts that were useful were the SW/HW recommendations. I will talk to the product teams and see what we can do here :)

It depends in the user needs… should have those impossible / difficult to find options of the SO… Cant say just one… maybe folder options, file types… network… right menu customization… depends in the user…
AVG Styler: On our list, but relatively low at the moment. Our surveys have shown that users rarely "style" their Windows anymore and communities that offer visual styles for Windows 7 and 10 have shown quite a steep decline compared to 10 years ago. Is this something you guys do often? Let me know, please.
I really like styler… boot/logon screen… customize icons… repair options (like icons)… would like to see even more options… but I understand that is less prioritary…
AVG Process Manager: The process manager in Windows 7 and especially 10 does a very good job and we don't like to replicate what's built-in. What did you like about the old one? What would be on your wishlist for the perfect process/task manager?
AVG process manager adds over windows task manager the posibility to get info / cpu / disk / ram usage / graphs… and all the rest of things PER process… windows task manager gives much less details per process and grapsh are general not per proces…
The list above makes it clear: There's a mix of features we're working on and other features that are simply no longer needed in 2019! Not even if you own an older machine. This is the reality and I don't want to sugarcoat things: We are definitely not where we want to be but this is the current status - A constant evolution! That being said, we have focused our attention on where a software like TuneUp makes the biggest impact: Sleep Mode, Software Cleanup, Software Updater, Disk Cleaner, Browser Cleaner etc. - those are the ones that will give you the biggest boost in speed and disk space.
I hope this all makes sense. But I'd like to make it clear that we are listening, so my questions to you are:
1. Do you disagree with my evaluations above and if so, why? Is there a feature I downplayed that was super valuable to you. If so, please tell me why!

2. Which features would YOU like to see next in order of priority!
The roadmap you described cover more or less my own opinion (with the comments I have done).
3. More importantly: We are actively working on future features so I'd like to know - aside from the old features, which features would you like to see going forward?
1. App updates doesn't work behind a proxy… (maybe is not using windows config and need a proxy configuration that now is not avalable ¿?)
2. Manual updates (to be able to check / force for updates, select when you wnt to update and changelog of the update…
3. Would be nice some kind of connection with smart home (Google Home, Alexa…)
4. More apps added to the update apps system (tuneup just detect a few sw updates…)
5. Maybe advance search files… (windows native is horrible )
I don'tknow… there are so many things that could be cool but I suppose there are so many other things to do fist… Will think about this…
I hope this messages makes it clear that we CARE. We really do. Please bear with us as we're going through this migration! In the not so distant future you'll end up with a product that has new/improved features and got rid of bloat that's not helpful today.

No fix… no answer… no money back… no news… Guys… seems we have to accept it… Tune Up is dead… I was the best SW app for windows tweaks in so many years !! but now… Tune Up is dead… and AVG is just lying and scamming us…
I was a leal user for so many years !! paying every year and really happy waiting for the next fantastic version… But now… this is just a shadow of what tune up was… and will never renove my subscription… I recommend the rest to do the same…

Correct me if I'm wrong but this supposed to be a collection of tools for advanced users… not green as hell "uuuuu what does this button do ?" user.

It is late 2019 and still, a lot of function is missing.
* AVG Duplicate Finder - didn't use as standalone but was definitely useful during 1click maintenance
* AVG Performance Profiles - not used
* AVG Undelete - WHAT ?!? I want my files back!
* AVG System Information - useful tool now have to use things like cpuz/gpuz/aida64/dxdiag WTF?
* AVG "Fix Problems" - you're jocking… this was the single tool that convinced me to make a subscription!
* AVG Improve Performance (HW, SW, Internet, Visual Effects) - veeeery freaking useful tool, especially when you're giving your old hardware through family members and "tune-up" them to their need -
* AVG Startup Optimizer - for hdd drive owners ? must have
AVG Repair Wizard - not used
AVG System Control - not used
* AVG Styler - not used
* AVG Process Manager - much much better than windows one for the sole feature of PER process check and much better GUI design, easier process search, control and killing along all running users. Missing feature for me? performance tab with CPU per logic core usage (win task manager), CPU temp (cpu-z),CPU frequency per core (cpu-z) ,RAM memory usage(win task manager),RAM temp(aida), hdd/sdd usage(win task manager), GPU usage, temp, freq, limiter, gpu mem usage (all gpuz). Adding this on a single tab, in a single program that could also log it, would be an invaluable help in PC bottleneck checking.

I ran thru solve problems and the only info I got back was "solved 2 problems" WHAT ?!? WHERE? WITH WHAT? HOW?
Where are the options to decide what to do? Where is the info what was found? where is the info on what was the result of the repair attempt?
For who is this tool created - a 5 years old?
Please don't go Microsoft way of treating users as dumb-dumb idiots that have to be blocked from accessing the Control Panel because they can brake too much there.
To be frankly - I do not trust the program now to let it go through my system ! I have no control of what it is doing, no info on what it had done, no way of running the tools I need as a single utility/standalone version. Unfortunately, I've noticed all of this later than 14 days after my subscription auto-renewal.
If it were before that time I would use my EU citizen right to annul internet order post-fact due to "non-compliance with contract" and "false advertising".
Now I'm stuck with you for another year with butchered application for which I had paid full price. I'm canceling my subscription and not renewing it without major updates and features back program.

Only maintenance, uninstall and disable functions are left, all the rest has been removed.
This is not why I renewed my licence after many years using TuneUp.

If this is the future TuneUp it will be my last renewal!
Looks like they even removed registry editor from the latest update!!! The management is killing Tuneup Utility
Same opinion here. When I download the old version, it bugged at the end of the installation. I am seriously considering cracking an old version. This downgrade is just outrageous.
Yeah I totally agree I'm leaving to… I totally understand if the program was made in old language or you lost the source file or something like that… but then you remake it and put it all back again if you still expect people to pay for it. which you have clearly haven't done even now… so we will know this is bulshit what you did. even some of the old function you can buy separately now… so yeah I am unsubscribing to AVG - tuneup now and even AVG - antivirus because of your advertisements that you have in the product… OMG I don't want advertisements even if it's for your own programs, especially not this much…
As I said I can even understand that some functions can be removed becous could be useless… but some of the features I said was clearly useful with no doubt… like (just examples):

This seems more like no time / no money to migrate / update functions… and just focus on most important things…

Hi all, I've been used our product since 2016, but now have no use, cause i have no money to continue. The most i feel our profuct have great choice for all to use clean up virus, but if you a free user, you will not have full privilege to use all tools in product, so you want to be full user, must pay, and money is an expensive. I have just installed new TuneUp 2019 version and I am extremely sad ! I was waiting for the new version but now I see almost all functionality of tuneup is now removed !!! Now we only have maintenance, uninstall and disable functions all the rest have been removed !!! Why ??? is this a previous beta version or something like that ¿? Well… after almost 5 months from the last "official" answer about "we are working on it" with no happy news… finally my subscription will expire in some days… I did renew 2 months that were free… but in 10 days will finally expire…
Almost 1 year from my first post… and some more months from this new version and since then… we are at the same point… I can now say that my money for the last subscription was gone directly to the trash…
In imho you should have been working in a big update… with cool new features to make it possible for AVG to simply survive… new CPUs + memory size and SSD are changing the need to "dinamyc disable apps / services" now is a little less important thinking in that and all the removed functions and what is more important… 0 new features is making me think various things:
1. The current name AVG TuneUp is better than the some years old name "Tune Up Utilities" since the word "Utilities" is far from the current build…
2. Your other apps (Firewall, Virus Scan…) will have problems to survive now that security center in windows covers everything… so if you are using all tuneup subscriptors money in those apps… maybe you are doing a bad decission…
3. I really think that you (AVG) are just killing this SW with the last decisions… I am pretty sure you are loosing sunscriptors…
In ten days I will install the older version with my older key and will wait some time for news / updates to analize if tuneup still worths my money…
Really hope things will change soon.
Are we ever going to get these features back? Reviewing this thread that was created almost 2 years ago and barely anything has changed. I am a software developer and it's absolutely ludacrous for the features that have been asked to be re-implemented into a once great product to take this long. It's very clear you are all just trying to make a buck off everyone. I will not be renewing my subscription once it expires. Instead, I'll find a better product. Or, better yet, write my own and take away your revenue on this POS.
