Same problem here.
Same issue here as well. Quarantines, deletes, but then reappears on the next scan. Anywhere from 1-6 different threats detected each time. Resides in the "Library/Assistant" folder.

Hi,
AVG detected and blocks activity from the TuneUpMyMac-K threat but despite that I have run a scan my mac twice and the threat has been deleted, every time I turn on the mac AVG blocks it again which means that it is still there. Any ideas on how to handle this? I couldn't find any TuneUpMyMac application…
Thank you,
Petros
Hi,
I managed to fix the problem. Since the thret was blocked during the login, I assumed that it must be a process that starts during login. In my case there were only ituneshelper and WDsmart monitor or something. I removed both from running during login, killed the running processes, delete WD utilities application and reinstalled iTunes in order to overwrite old files. After restart I get no more annoying threat blocks so then I added back ituneshelper to activate during login. Problem solved here. I suppose that a virus got downloaded and infected ituneshelper.
+1 for AVG that was detecting and blocking the threat everytime
-1 for AVG for not being able to locate the infected file (?)
Note: Malwarebytes did not discover any threats either.
Hope that solves your problems too.

This is the result of the full scan (no theats found) with all the external disks physically disconnected, after a shutdown and restarting mac, soon after the login I still get a warning from AVG that stopped the threat.
my virus protection keeps detecting tuneupmymac as a virus, the virus is isolated and sent to quarantine and then deleted . when ever i reboot and even while my macbook air os x 10/12.6 sierra is running the tuneupmymac virus detection pops up … see the attachment. how can this virus be remove and stoped from popping up. thanks
Petros, thank you for providing the screenshot.
I have forwarded the case to senior team for getting suggestion.
Please keep checking this post to know about the status.
Your patience is much appreciated.
I don't have WD Utilities on my drive, but everyone has itunes. However I have two macs, one I never use anymore because it's older. I turned it on for the first time in over a month and it too is having this same issue. So I don't know if just reinstalling itunes will help . . . I guess I can try.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue.
Here it is, thank you…
First remove ituneshelper from the login via system prefferences -> login, select ituneshelper and click on the minus. Then restart and check if the message pops up again. If it does then it propably is not itunes your case. To re-insert ituneshelper to the login in order to start automatically you have to navigate with finder into applications -> itunes, right click -> show package contentes and drag and drop the ituneshelper into the login screen in system prefferencies. Good luck!
Seeing exactly the same
Add me to this problem, multiple times a day, different locations. TuneUpMyMac isn't even ON my Mac! A lot of mine come from the Assistant Folder or Private Folder. Getting annoying, may remove AVG until they fix this issue. Clearly a bug,
