Turned off renewal for Internet Security, now AntiVirus keeps updating and running

Earlier today I decided to not renew my paid subscription to Internet Security and to instead go back to AntiVirus . . . and ever since that, I've gotten repeated updates and attempts to run AntiVirus as well as to convince me to re-subscribe to Internet Security.  Can this be stopped?
