Hi Fred,
I am happy to see that your issue is resolved.
Thanks for posting solution back.

Every time I start my workstation the antivirus whole computer scan task starts. I made sure the "Run when computer starts up if task has been missed" option was disabled and that the scheduled whole computer scan was scheduled for 12:30 AM every day and shutdown after the scan was complete. But the whole computer scan still starts each time I started my workstation. I checked the advanced options again and noticed two "Scheduled Scan" items in Schedules menu. The second "Scheduled Scan" had the "Run when computer starts up if task has been missed" option enabled. Why are there two "Scheduled Scan" items? If this is a glitch, what should I do to correct the problem?  Would a reinstall correct this or is there something else I should try first? I’m running Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit Edition with AVG Internet Security 2015, version 2015.0.5645.

Repair did not work. Will try uninstall and reinstall later.  Thanks for the suggestion Alan.
