Two versions of AVG on my computer

Hello Ed, I would request you to uninstall your current AVG version using the AVG Remover Tool. As per our record you have purchased the new AVG Protection program for multidevice. I request you to use AVG Remover Tool and uninstall your current AVG program and then install the AVG Protection program. Please follow the below mentioned instructions:

1) To download AVG Remover Tool please click on the following link: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation.

Then to download, install and activate your AVG Protection program please follow the instructions mentioned in the following article: http://bit.ly/1FKGRZI .

I installed the free version of AVG2015 on my Surface Pro 3 then bought a subscription. I didn't see where to activate so I logged into my account and downloaded it again thinking it would overwrite what was already there. Instead I see two versions and can't seem to uninstall either one even though it went through ther uninstall process. As of right now it looks like I have the free version running.
