I keep getting "notices" which I found out lead to Uber Tech Support which basically freezes my machine. The only way to get out of it is Ctrl-Alt-Del for Task Manager to quit Internet Explorer. I called the number Saturday (855-442-7465) and was not nice to them. I explicitly accused them of trying to take over my machine. The person who answered the phone - for whom English is NOT his first language - flat out denied it. I didn't and still don't believe him. The phone number today is 877-720-7842.
My question: does AVG protect against these nasty people? what is necessary to safeguard against this?
