ubscription Date Showing 31/12/1969 – Urgent Help Needed

Hi, my AVG account shows my subscription start date as December 31, 1969, which is clearly incorrect. I’m concerned this might affect updates or active protection. I also can’t find a support contact link.

Can anyone advise how to fix this or verify my actual subscription?

Thanks!

Sheila - that is exactly what I am looking for, for the same reason!

Hi Matt, chatgtp says its a “Unix epoch” glitch or a null or missing timestamp. But it still has to be fixed by AVG.

Don’t worry, your account hasn’t been hacked, you’re actually seeing a classic technical glitch called the Unix Epoch. In computer systems, time is often measured in seconds starting from January 1, 1970. When a database fails to load a date correctly (returning a “0” value) and factors in your local time zone, it defaults to December 31, 1969.

To fix this and restore your active protection, try these steps:

  • Refresh the Subscription Sync: Open your AVG application, go to Menu > My Subscriptions, and click Refresh or sign out and sign back in. This usually forces the app to pull the correct date from the server.

  • Check for Updates: Ensure the AVG client itself is up to date. An outdated version of the software can sometimes struggle to communicate with the subscription server.

  • Verify via Web: Log in to your AVG Account on a web browser. If the date looks correct there, the issue is just a display bug on your local device and won’t affect your protection.

If the date is wrong on the website too, you’ll need to use the AVG Contact Form and select “Billing & Sales” to have an agent manually resync your license.
