Looks like this is a common problem, many others have complained about the same issue and the problem has not been fixed for the past two months ! Is this time for me to uninstall AVG and use sonething else after 15 years ?

We are sorry that you are unable to open AVG Free Antivirus and encountering error with it. Please be informed that AVG Free Antivirus has upgraded to 2017 version and there is no 'options' tab in it. Please run AVG Clear tool to remove AVG traces using the below instructions.
1. Use the link https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe to run the AVG Clear tool.
2. Open the AVG Clear tool, click Yes in the User Account control dialog.
3. Click No in the Windows safe mode dialog.
4. Select the installed version of AVG and also check the box 'Uninstall AVG Zen'. Then click Uninstall, and Restart computer.
Use the link to install AVG Free Antivirus: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe .
If you still encounter same issue, please reply back with the screenshot of it so that we can escalate accordingly.

When clicking on the AVG icon in the taskbar I constantly get the "UI Failed to load" message.
The only way I can access the UI is to right click on it and then click Open AVG, clicking on the Open brings back the same error message. I have tried uninstalling and used AVG Remover and reinstalling AVG Free at least a half a dozen times and every time I get the same error message.
Also since I cannot see an Option menu anymore, how do I configure AVG ?

1. Reinstalled the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 from the link provided
2. Rebooted computer
3. Problem is the same !
