Hello all
I recently had a major issue with uninstalling and reinstalling AVG Internet Security on my Windows 7 PC. AVG support staff were excellent and eventually the remote technician succeeded in installing Internet_Security_x64_1825. I managed to run one scan but when I tried to re-open AVG, I experienced the "UI Failed to load" error. I am not an IT expert but I am a person who makes things happen. I've found a solution and I hope it works for you:
1. Edit the PATH environment variable on your PC by adding the path of avgui.exe If you haven’t done this before, please google it.
2. Uninstall AVG Internet Security using Control Panel or RevoUninstaller
3. Run AVG Clear, AVG Remover and AVG RemoverFix, with all the required restarts. If a restart doesn’t happen by itself, do it manually. I understand that AVG Remover isn't supposed to work on more recent versions of AVG Internet Security but it doesn't appear to do any harm.
4.  Restart your computer.
5. Install a slightly older version of AVG Internet Security (Internet_Security_x64_1820.exe worked for me) instead of the most recent versions such as Internet_Security_x64_1825.exe or Internet_Security_1824.exe
6.  Restart your computer again.
7. Cross your fingers! It worked for me.

Hello.  I just bought a brand new Windows 10 Laptop and purchased AVG to go along with it.  I am very disappointed as a new user so far because I am getting this exact same problem.   My laptop was fast before I installed AVG, now AVG slows it down or causes it to freeze entirely and says "UI Failing to Load, restart required" constantly.   AVG needs to address this problem immediately because it is clearly impacting new computers even with a fresh installation.

Hello Ivan,

We regret for the inconvenience caused. Please check the version number of "AVG Protection" installed in your PC for us to assist you better. We also request you to provide the screenshot of the error window. Please follow the instructions from the link to attach a screenshot: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-create-a-screenshot

Thank you.

I have had the "UI failed to load problem for several months" and have performed all of the above routines to try to get rid of it.  I have spoken with AVG on the phone several times and had them step me through their routines.  I STILL have the problem - at least once per hour.

THANK YOU KEN!

I performed ALL of the steps AVG had suggested to no avail. I actually thought that a SERVICE or PROGRAM may have been the problem so I DISABLED a lot of SERVICES and removed a lot of PROGRAMS. Still not working. After seeing your resolution TODAY I set Terminal Services (which is one of the ones I disabled as a last resort to get AVG working) to start AUTOMATICALLY and though I had a problem STARTING it I eventually was able to (SEE BELOW) and BAMM AVG started working as designed!   SO TERMINAL SERVICE SERVICE IS THE KEY. Set it to automatic and start her up to resolve this ugly mess.

Under SERVICES in XP Administrative Tools RIGHT CLICK on Terminal Service and select PROPERTIES. Once in properties select the Startup Type - AUTOMATIC. THEN CLICK ON THE LOG ON tab and ensure that the HARDWARE PROFILE for your system is enabled. If not, enable it (touch nothing else here). NEXT go back to the GENERAL tab and START the service in the Service Status area. This should START and set Terminal Services to AUTOMATIC on system boot. Now that it is Started you can exit Administrative Tools and try AVG - I think you'll be happy

Since a week or two ago, I also have been getting the " UI Failed to load, this is really embarrassing" message, at the same time it disconnects me and I have to click on  "restart service" usually several times before it finally starts up and reconnects me to the web.
I have tried ALL the suggestions on here including. (but not limited to) downloading the suggested cleaning / removal tools from AVG and running them before reinstalling , repairing AVG, etc. etc. but NOTHING works. It's very irritating being disconnected from the web umpteen times a day.
I am running Win XP service pack 3 home edition.

I've been using the free AVG for a while with no problems until a few weeks back and it's clear I'm not alone with this problem, I appreciate that it's the FREE version so I can't really complain but I'm now ready to just take AVG off my PC and find something else but would prefer to get this problem solved.

My AVG free antivirus is failing to load the UI.  The message says "UI Failed to load.  This is really embarrassing.  Your protection is running, but the UI is having a really bad day.  Exit".

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

I am experiencing the same problem.  I tried the steps identified by Akash above but the problem was not resolved.

My screen shot is attached.

Akash solution didn't work on my XP machine.

Hello, guys,

I know you're trying your best to resolve this problem, and I wish you luck. I've used AVGt for years, and it's been trouble free until now, so I'm not complaing.

Pandi Rajan asked for the version# of my AVG protection. It's 17.4.3014. Pandi also asked for a screenshot of the "UI Failed to load" message that appears on my screen. The message comes and goes (Is that good or bad?) and at the moment it's not on my screen, so I can't provide a screen shot, but it looks exactly the same as every other screenshot message here, if that helps.

Hi Glen,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to the AVG Interface. We request you to use our removal tools AVG Clear and AVG Remover:

1. Download and run the AVG Clear tool : https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool helps remove AVG 2017 and its residual files.
2. Open the AVG Clear tool.
3. Click Yes in the User Account control dialog.
4. Click No in the Windows safe mode dialog.
5. Select the installed version of AVG.
6. Click Uninstall, then click Restart computer.
7. After restart, download and run AVG Remover http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to remove all AVG products.
8. Open AVG_Remover.exe.
9. Click Yes in the User Account control dialog.

I just received an onscreen message from Microsoft that said it was closing AVG because it was a danger to my computer. Let me know if and when you resolve this problem.
