Win 10 ver 1803
AVG Anti Virus Free
18.8.3071 build 18.8.4084.409
AVG is only antivirus installer.
IOBit Malware Fighter 6.4 is installed. It was disabled and Cura still would not start. If I start Cura and then enable AVG it works fine. Something in AVG seems to be preventing Cura from starting.
I uninstalled Cura,
Removed exception for Cura program directory.
Updated AVG and scanned, nothing found.
Updated and scanned for malware, nothing found.
Rerstarted system, downloaded Cura installer, and ran install. Nothing noted by AVG during install and install seemed to progress normally. Cura would not start. Task manager showed Cura using 38.1M memory and no CPU or disk activity. Restarted and tried to start Cura and had same result. Disabled AVG and Cura started normally. Added exception to AVG for Cura program directory and renabled AVG and Cura started normally.
Cura program directory uploaded to google drive.

Anything else that you would like for me to try?
Hello Ed,
We appreciate your efforts.
Please locate the file folder and move it to your desktop in order to upload it for further analysis.
Thank you.
Ultimaker Cura 3.6 will not run as long as AVG is active. Turning AVG off temporarily allows cura to run, but that is not a long term option. Any thoughts on other way to get around this?

That's good to hear. Let us know if you face any issue.
The exception seem to work. What file do you want uploaded, the entire program directory or would just the installer do? It is open source LGPLv3. so you could install and evaluate from the installer.
Thank you for the information.
Click on this link https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields for the steps to add this application (Ultimaker Cura 3.6) to AVG exception list and send the sample https://www.avg.com/en-us/false-positive-file-form of this file to AVG for analysis.
This should fix the issue.

I'll try and reinstall tomorrow and see if AVG complains about anything during the install.
Hello Ed,
We realize the situation. In this case, we request you to upload the folder/file in Google driver or drop box and share the link of the same here.
Please remove the software in exception list temporarily and enable AVG. If you see or receive any threat messages, capture the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot) and provide it here.
Once we receive the information, we will escalate the case to our concern team for further analysis.
When we submit application files to the AVG Threat Lab, a group of analysts review the software for malicious or unwanted activity. Applications that are both free from malware and meet our guidelines for application transparency can be whitelisted.
Thank you.
Thank you, Ed.
We request you to try uploading the file in our FTP server as mentioned in this article.
Follow the steps mentioned under "Manually" category.
If you are able to upload it successfully, do provide the file name that you receive after the upload.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks
Appreciate your efforts so far, Ed.
We'd request to disable each component in AVG to further narrow down the issue. Open AVG AntiVirus free, click Menu > Settings > Components. Disable each component and verify the situation. Also, do you receive any error message when the application does not start? If you do, please share a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of it.
No idea of what changed, but with the exception removed, it works. I'll let you know if anything changes.
The foder is too large to upload. Zipped it is 188 meg
Hello Ed,
Let's check what has gone wrong.
Could you provide the version of AVG AntiVirus free/AVG Internet Security installed on your PC? To find: Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > About.
It is advised not to keep more than one anti virus program on your computer because it keep conflict the other anti virus from installation and protection. If you have any other AntiVirus program, please uninstall it.
Check the status and keep us informed here.
