I have 3 computers in the house all with AVG Ultimate. None of them have updated since 24/02/2018. If I tell it to update it says unknown error. I have followed the reinstall document and nothing has worked.
I have tried on all computers the following;
1. repair install
2. uninstall
3. run AVG remover
4. run AVG clear.
5. Reinstall, fails with error 0xE001050B. To install AVG, you need to be connected to the internet.
The computers are connected to the internet.
Ever since AVG / Avast merged I have been having random problems. Most have fixed themselves at next update but now nothing updates.
What else can I try? Please don't say reinstall because it doesn't work.
Changing the DNS setting on my network adapter to 8.8.8.8 worked.
What has changed in the AVG server side that would make me unable to connect using my router address as the dns server. It has always worked before and nothing has changed on my side. Same computer, same router/modem. Therefore something on your side has caused this. And given the amount of posts to this community about updates not working I can see that it is not only me experiencing this issue.
Anyhow, fixed for now with the google DNS servers
