Un-commanded over-ride of password protection setting on 64bit PC

Initially, please accept our apologies, as there is an ongoing issue with Password protection feature & the concerned team is already working on it to fix it shortly.
However, you can be rest assured that the protection level of your computer isn't compromised.
Meanwhile, performing a clean installation is the workaround provided.
As it isn't recommended to share the license info over this post, we've sent you an email including the reintsallation steps.

Hi Dinesh,
When I first used AVG, it's bug reporting was excellent, especially by email.  That has long gone;  using chat and internet browser now takes  much longer.  To me, AVG damaged it's image by removing the bug reporting by email a long time ago.  Chat is just ridiculous.  I've complained about it and given reasons.  You are not listening.
The affected PC is my class laptop:  since the pandemic, no classes, laptop used mainly to keep apps up-to-date, security scans once a week.  I last uninstalled/re-installed the software when the license was renewed 2 months ago:  not eager to do it again.  And since you acknowledge a problem in password protection and will fix it, I can live with that until the patch is delivered.

We're sorry to know that, David. From your message it is obivious that you're upset.
Furthermore, if you've any concerns, please reach us & we'll collect your feedback via email to forward it to the concerned team.
You can also submit your feedback through AVG program (Open AVG - Menu - About).
Regarding Password protection, it would be fixed in the upcoming updates.

This is a bug reports and a request for assistance.

I have a license for AVG software build 20.10.3157 UI 1.0.584 installed on 2 laptop PC's, both running windows 7.  The 32 bit laptop has no problem, but the 64bit unit has the following issue, which I have isolated to occurring during re-start of the computer from a cold/power off condition.
When opened, the AVG main panel reports (in RED) in the hacker attacks icon in that password protect needs to be enabled (screenshot 1).  Enabling password protection - by dragging the slider in that icon (screenshot 2), OR by selecting in the menu/settings/full protection/password protection item protect password for the browser installed (screenshot 3) does that.  And that protect setting carries over through a close and re-start of AVG for the same computer session.
However, when the PC is turned off, then later re-started and AVG opened, that same red password protect warning in red again appears.  And it has been doing this thru several software version upgrades and a license renewal.

What is doing an un-commanded over-ride of the password protect setting in AVG like this when opening AVG after a cold start in a 64bit system???  How can it be fixed?

And there doesn't seem to be any means of attaching images - jpg files directly - to a community query.  To be clear, the screenshots referred to above are not on a web server.  I also tried reporting this via a support email address, but all I got back was a response from Avast re partners and business support.  Doesn't AVG talk to home users any more???
