The topic that we discussed here is regarding password feature available within AVG Antivirus free and AVG Internet Security.
If it is enabled, then the respective password has to be entered for accessing the program and its features.
The same would appear while trying to uninstall AVG. Hence, if the password is forgotten, then we suggest to use AVG Clear for removing the program.
We assure you that this is not related to the printer error that you try to explain here.

I want remove (uninstall) AVG free anti-virus. But I am having problems.
I receive the message: "An attempt has been made to enter a protected area of AVG (update, repair or component change). This may be a legitimate action, but could also be the result of a malware attack. Do you want to continue? Select NO or Cancel unless you are performing the action intentionally."
In fact No is not an option, but rather OK or Cancel. Either choice requires an AVG password.
If I choose OK, my password is rejected as invalid. If I choose cancel, the uninstall terminates.
I am unsure how to proceed.

Michelle, do you still experience this issue? The program is asking for a password because you created a password to protect AVG from unauthorized access.
