Unable to disable definitons automatic updates

The screenshot is still helpful I believe, in Advanced Settings the "Definition Update Shedule" is available (right above the "Program Update Schedule"). So, when clicking the "Definition Update Schedule", it is possible to un-tick the box "Enable this task", which should disable automatic definitions update. AVG Free will automatically jump to "You are not fully protected" state. I just checked with the build 4765, which is the one available on web, and it works this way.

Oops! That old screenshot was for program update schedule (Jahanzaib Asgher did not specify what type of updates he wanted to stop), so it wouldn't show "Run automatically" even if it was up-to-date.

tanush p, "schedule running" isn't available with AVG Free. You have to pay for that facility. With AVG Free why would you want to disable automatic updates for definitions?.

Hi tanush p, there is a thread describing the solution.
Please check and let us know if it helps. Just a side note: definitions updates allow AVG to recognize new threats, so please make sure you update regularly if you do not want to do it automatically.

For some insane reason, AVG Definitions Updates can not be turned off in Advanced Settings under Schedules!  Why even list the option if it can not be turned off…?  Very inconvienient for people who count on performance at a specific time or have limited data to work with.  Most people run the update every day they turn on their computer.  AVG tried to implement this two or three years ago and there was an uproar from users.  Perhaps learning from the past is in order, …before people go somewhere else - again.

I am unable to disable automatic updates for definitions. I tried reinstalling complete AVG Free 2014 but no use.

Any help ?

I tried disabling Options >> Advanced settings >> Schedule >> Definition update schedule. But this page is disabled !

I could not select the "schedule running" radio button.

The answer I gave in the above-referenced thread was accurate at the time, however that thread predated build 4745. Note that the screenshot I posted does not include the "Run automatically (Recommended)" setting at all. The new setting might be "Recommended" for paid versions of AVG, but cannot be deselected in AVG AntiVirus FREE. I think AVG is trying to make paid versions more attractive by making the free version less attractive (risky if you ask me).
