I'm sorry to hear this, in this case I request you to follow the below instruction and manage AVG Firewall settings. Please open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components > firewall > customize > system rules > enable all the rules. After please go to Firewall customize settings again > network types > change all the network types to Private > save all the AVG Firewall settings by clicking OK and check if your download emails from Gmail is working fine.

Since an upgrade yesterday (20 June) I have not been able to download emails from Gmail. to Thunderbird. I receive them from two other different non-Gmail accounts, but while TB says it has contacted Gmail, nothing happens.
I turned off AVG and emails downloaded immediately. How can I adjust AVG so that it allows email from Gmail to download?
