Unable to find adware with scan

Hi!

A week ago I made an amateur mistake while trying to find a firmware update for SIM800 gsm modem, and as a last resort downloaded a file called download_simcom_flash_update_tool_downloader.exe. <Link> (!do not download!, just in case AVD can use it for anything)
Well, the name already suggests a malware and that it was, AVD reported general adware a moment later, it was moved to the vault and everything seemed to be okay.

However, now later I've started to have occasional popups and redirects when pressing anything on my browser. I've ran AVD scan twice on my C: drive (which is only 128 gb SSD) and once trough my external HDD and found nothing, yet the problem still persists.
Long time ago I had Mozilla Firefox infected with adware and I was able to manually delete the files, now I deleted and reinstalled my browser (Maxthon 4) but it did not help and the problem occurs on Microsoft Edge as well.
I've been trying to manually go trough my files to see if something seems out of place but yet I've been unable to find anything.

So the question is what can I do to find the malware and destroy it?

Thank you in advance!
