I have used AVG Free for many years, and loved it.  After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I kept getting AVG pop-ups to try the 30-day free trial.  Too many problems, so I decided NOT to purchase the full version, and at the end of the trial period, everything went crazy.  Tried to uninstall, but some icons and other "left behind" vestiges, such as icons which didn't lead anywhere!!  I could NOT install AVG free - kept getting error messages!  After 7 or 8 computer reboots, the icons finally went away.  Tried to install AVG Free again, to no avail.
I've wasted hours trying to get back to AVG Free which supported me so very well for so long, to no avail.
I didn't see anything telling me that, unless I purchased the full package after the trial,  I could not use AVG Free.  If this is the case, it should be clearly stated.
Many years ago, a PC came bundled with one free year of Symantec Norton AV, which I didn't like and decided to go to AVG free.  I couldn't get rid of of all the bits & pieces of the Symantec Norton AV software.  Symantec had a special "Norton Removal Tool" on their website.  I ran it, and it cleaned everything out, I installed AVG Free and all went great until a few days ago at the end of teh "Free Trial!!
Please help, or at least tell me if I've been blocked from using AVG free because I didn't purchase the full package after the free trial!
This is my 3rd time around a do-loop, and I FINALLY got here!
Thank You
 - Swede Seagren

Gulam,
Thanks you so very much!!  Theremoval tool is exactly what I needed.  I it found some files for both Protection and Performance, then took a long time to seek them all out and remove them.  Antivirus free now up and running well again!!
