Unable to get rid of AVG, to reinstall fresh

Thank you for contacting us. Did you try to run AVG remover tool to completely remove AVG? To run remover tool, please visit http://www.avg.com/tools#tba2 and click on "AVG Remover" to download the remover tool and run it on your PC. It will ask you to select which product you would like to uninstall. Please select "AVG Protection" and follow the setup instructions to uninstall AVG. Thank you.

I have been unable to uninstall a defective AVG antivirus program.  I tried all the normal ways, including trying to install a new version.  I then had no option, but to try and remove manually from the program 64 files, but some stubborn files will not be deleted.  I would prefer not to reload windows.
anyone have any ideas how to dlete all the AVG files?
