Unable to go on internet

Please clarify whether you're able to use the internet on your alternate browsers like Mozilla Firefox, chrome, etc.,
Please let us know the name of the AVG programs installed on your PC. 
For better clarity, please share the screenshot of the error message which you get while accessing the Edge browser on your PC.
Please open the AVG TuneUp > Speed up > Background & startup programs. Then, click on sleeping programs and check the Microsoft Edge browser is in sleep mode. If yes, wake the application and check for the status.

Each time I try to go on the internet, my computer indicates we are connected however, Microsoft Edge is indicated as "not responding".  If my memory is not failing me, I recall that AVG has sleeping block against edge that is suppose to awaken it when being called for.

Please tell me I am not nuts and what correction is needed for this problem, before I have to admit I am nuts. (LOL)
