Unable to open AVG program

Hi Scott,
I am sorry to hear about that. I request you to use AVG Clear tool to remove antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe .
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer".

After the tool has run successfully, download the latest version of AVG Free from this link http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe and install.

This is the 3rd time this has happened.
When I try to open AVG, I get a message "This is embarrassing. We can't open the program. Try restarting the computer and try again. If continues, you will need to reinstall the program."

The first 2 times, I restarted the computer…which didn't help. And I reinstalled the program. This worked, but only for a few days, then it happened again.

Using Control Panel, I have tried to make "changes" to the program to fix the update. But then I get a message saying that I have to be connected to the internet. I already am connected to the internet. I know this because I am writing this post.

Any thoughts from anyone? This is starting to get annoying. I have AVG Free installed on several other devices and am having no issues.

Thanks

Scott Swenson

Hi Avinash
I have almost the same problem as Scott. When I try to open AVG nothing happens, I can't even open the AVG dashboard. So I tried to use the link above for AVG Clear tool, but it redirects me to a page saying that I don't have permission to enter the page.
I then installed the AVG Remover, removed AVG and tried to reinstall it, but it will still not run.
When I went through the harddrive to look for undeleted AVG files, I found noumerous old AVG files, that the Remover tool had not deleted. The system wouldn't let me delete the files manually, because it says I don't have administrator rights, which I have!

Kind regards
