Unable to Reinstall Dropbox After a Virus Threat

Hello Russell,
We are sorry to know that. Generally uninstalling AVG will remove all the traces of other programs from the AVG list. So, in this case, it seems that some traces of Drop box is still present in your computer. To fix this issue, we suggest you to contact Dropbox support and they will help you with the installation .
Thank you

Hi,
Yesterday AVG picked up a virus threat IDP.Alexa.51 in the file dropbox.exe. It removed the application file and put it in the box and as a result Dropbox no longer worked.
Assuming this virus was a threat I decided to uninstall Dropbox and reinstall it. Uninstall wouldn't work so II had to manually uninstall every reference to Dropbox. I even got rid of those last dregs that wouldn't delete because they were still in use with another progam. Thanks to Unlock for that.
I then tried to install Dropbox but the installation failed at the start (both online and offline installations).
I then disabled AVG but the program still failed to install.
I uninstalled AVG and tried to install Dropbox. The install still failed.
I'm assuming AVG has done something to prevent the installation of Dropbox but cannot work it out.
Windows firewall allows Dropbox so no problems there, By the way, I'm using AVG basic and have reinstalled it.
Can anyone help me with this? I've checked the Dropbox forums and advanced procedure for cleaning out Dropbox but it has made no difference, So I'm assuming it's something with AVG that didn't uninstall when I uninstalled AVG. I even used CCleaner but it made no difference.
Hopefully there's an answer out there as Dropbox is a bloody great tool.and I would love to keep using it.
Cheers

Thanks Karthikeyan,

I have searched the dropbox forums and guess what? They are referring people to the AVG forums for help. So as you can see I'm a bit confused as to how to solve this problem.

Cheers
